Our BACOX® bioleaching technology draws on more than 35 years of R&D and is proven at commercial scale, with four plants built under licence in Australia and China. Bacteria break down sulphide minerals such as arsenopyrite to free the gold and silver locked inside, and the arsenic is converted to stable ferric arsenate that passes EPA landfill testing. It does the work of a roaster without the emissions.
Our first company-owned plant, Tenguel in Ecuador, is fully permitted and has a completed Bankable Feasibility Study. The 50 tonne-per-day plant will treat arsenic-rich gold concentrate from local miners and produce about 35,000 ounces of gold and 50-60,000 0unces of silver a year. We are now arranging the ~US$22 million of project financing, with further projects in Peru and Kazakhstan.
In Ontario, we're focused on Zero Tailings™, a patent-pending process now being piloted at Mirarco in Sudbury. It treats acid mine drainage and legacy and operating tailings, recovering critical minerals, pure magnetite, fertilizer, inert silicates and clean water. Tailings are a permanent cost for miners and governments; Zero Tailings™ turns them into revenue and leaves no waste pile behind.
